In the article Ten Toxic Threats to Human Health and Happiness the fifth threat identified was: “We are what we eat”.
The Standard American Diet (SAD) of Fast Foods and Junk Foods will put you on the fast track to discovering that fast food is slow poison. Even the Food Pyramid guidelines of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have many flaws and food industry bias which significantly contribute to our health problems.
Fast foods, junk foods, highly processed and refined foods, refined sugars, hydrogenated oils, heated and treated oils and synthetic additives (dyes, flavor enhancers, MSG, preservatives) are creating significant problems with our health and well being. The regular consumption of factory farmed animal and fish products also has many harmful consequences.
The food we consume is the fuel and ingredients we need for energy and maintenance of our body. Look at yourself closely in the bathroom mirror before a shower and you will have a good indication of how well you are doing. The next time you are thinking about eating, look closely at your food and remember “you are what you eat”.
Question is … Will you choose fresh, organic and vibrant foods loaded with energy and nutrients or will you settle for chemically altered, dead, fried, GE or GMO, highly processed and refined, loaded with refined sugars and salt micro waved, nutrient deficient, over cooked and synthetically enhanced mystery meals?
The 50 Percent Rule
It is important to buy fresh naturally ripened, locally grown, organic and sustainable whole foods as your primary source of nutrition. Growing some beans, berries, fruit trees, grape vines, herbs, legumes, nut trees, sprouts, vegetables and wheat grass is a great way to produce some great foods. Adults and children gain a real connection to the earth and their food when they plant some easy to grow food bearing plants such as beans, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes and watermelons. When you do an internet search on organic gardening, organic co-op, permaculture, raw foods, sprouting or sustainable foods you will tap into a wealth of great information to help you.
To assimilate the best nutrients from your food it is recommended that at least fifty percent of your foods be prepared naturally and kept below 118 degrees Fahrenheit to maintain the majority of antioxidants, enzymes, essential oils, minerals, phyto-nutrients, trace elements and vitamins available.
Reading a book or website on food combining, living cuisine or raw foods will give you great techniques and tips on how and why it is essential to improve your health and nutrition. The great news today is once you understand that fast food is slow poison you now have some great things you can do to prevent the poison and protect yourself.
Even though we frequently hear and see the prophetic phrases “eat your fruits and vegetables” and “you are what you eat” many people seem to be blind, deaf and dumb regarding healthy choices. It seems most people today are too brainwashed, hypnotized or under educated regarding important choices and decisions impacting their current and future happiness and health. Allowing foolish choices and short term thinking about eating fast food and junk foods is a major factor for being sad, sick, stressed and tired and experiencing long term emotional, financial, mental and physical pain.
Making the Shift
It is a standard cause and effect scenario that plays out every day as people rationalize they do not have time to prepare their own meals and eat healthy so they choose unhealthy fast food as a convenience. When you say you do not have time to take care of your own health, nutrition and well being you are sending a signal to your body, mind and spirit which will trigger a sequence of consequences. This saying seems to sum it up best:
Most people work hard and spend their health trying to achieve wealth. Then they retire and spend their wealth trying to get back their health”.
Since fast food is slow poison be smart and avoid the Standard American Diet (SAD) of fast foods and junk foods. Once you shift your mental awareness and focus to being energized and eating healthy every day your higher consciousness will attract information and people into your life to help you discover vibrant energy and health.
Make a decision that for the next twenty one days you will avoid fast foods and junk foods and surround yourself with fresh whole foods, healthy people and lovingly prepared meals.
