Last week we reached a major milestone with the release of our Beltraide Executive Investment Summary for our Belize Eco Village so please read and share that blog with your family and friends. In honor of World Water Day on March 22 this blog highlights the amazing health benefits of proper hydration with clean water.
Welcome to the tenth blog on Positive Progress with Simple Steps. Many people feel sad, sick and stressed way too often. One of the primary reasons is because they are frequently dehydrated and struggling with poor eating habits that result in negative health consequences. Without adequate hydration, we are less likely to be energized, happy and healthy. As a holistic health coach, my role is to identify potential problems and offer support with peak performance strategies and suggestions. Coaching in simple steps helps when you are committed to improving life. Baby steps lead to big success.
Our passion and purpose are to share resources and simple steps for rapid results.
Seven Signs We Need More Water
Brain fog can be caused by many factors and dehydration is one of the main ones. When the body is low on water our brain cells and nerve cells are less able to function at an optimal level and transmit information. We have a lot of blood, lymph and tissues to keep hydrated so even a small amount of dehydration starts to slow down the entire body and brain system as a preservation mechanism.
Constipation results from a combination of factors such as dehydration and poor eating habits. Many people eat way too many carbs in the form of highly processed and refined foods and too little fiber and greens which results in constipation issues. The bowels require adequate fiber and water to move foods through our intestines just like water flushes waste down the toilet into the sewer lines. Without enough water, the sewer lines can back up and cause a big mess.
Dark urine is a clear and definite sign of dehydration. The more dehydrated we are the less clear our urine becomes. When we are fully hydrated our urines should appear almost as clear as a glass of water. Checking our urine is the easiest and most reliable way to monitor your hydration every day. Less frequent urination can also lead to kidney issues, urinary tract infections (UTI) and weight gain.
Hangry appetites can often be a simple sign of dehydration as well as being a sugar burner. The center in the brain for hunger is right next to the center for hydration so we may think we are starving when in reality we are less hungry and more thirsty than we realize. Drinking a full 12 to 18 ounces of water about 30 minutes before a meal can help improve hydration and prevent overeating so it is a double win for our happiness and health. BTW many people consume a lot of beverages and juices with sugar which affects blood sugar and an even higher demand for more water to flush the sugar out of our body.
High blood pressure (HBP) can often be a clear indicator a person is dehydrated. When our blood has less water it is thicker like ketchup instead of thinner like tomato juice. The thicker our blood is the harder the heart must work to pump this thick blood through tiny vessels. Try sucking ketchup, tomato juice, and red beet juice through a straw to understand the difference. Drinking water throughout the day help keeps the blood and body properly hydrated so the heart works more efficiently and the blood pressure can be more normal.
Low energy is often a sign of dehydration. When the cells of the body are deprived of adequate water everything starts to slow down and be less efficient. Digestions slows down without water so fewer nutrients are available to provide the raw materials we need to make energy in our mitochondria the power plants of our cells. Our mitochondria require clean fuels like fats, sugars, oxygen, and water to function properly.
Sagging skin and wrinkles can be a simple sign of dehydration. When our body is low on water we begin to look like a dry and wrinkled raisin instead of a healthy hydrated gorgeous grape.
