Have you been noticing the large number of adults, children and teens that are developing dysfunction issues with alignment, head forward, hunchback shoulders or poor posture? Unfortunately many people are not even aware of the wide range of health issues being caused, compounded or contributed by modern industry, inventions and innovations. Many ergonomic experts feel we may be doing more long term harm to our body, bones and brain than we realize. When you look at the consequences of using modern technology it seems we are making some bad, mad and sad choices without being fully aware of the down side to technology. Chiropractors, doctors and physical therapists are dealing with more aches, injuries and pains every day due to the deteriorating alignment, flexibility, posture and strength of most individuals in our modern society. These challenges from awful alignment, lazy lifestyle and poor posture are negatively affecting our level of happiness, harmony, health and human productivity. Today we will first focus on the problems associated with modern conveniences and technology and then highlight the benefits of embracing erect posture, ergonomics and exercise to enhance our alignment, balance, conditioning, endurance, flexibility, posture, resilience, stability, strength and tone. This post will offer specific suggestions and strategies to improve your alignment and posture for enhanced health and well being.
Many people are over indulging in too many conveniences and too much confinement. This is leading to major alignment, health and structural issues. Modern day products and technology are significantly contributing to degrading our health and well being. This information is intended to help educate, inspire and motivate more people to learn about avoiding posture problems and the benefits of proper posture. When we sit tall, stand straight and stalk like a wild cat we will stop harming our poise and posture and start gaining our athletic ability. As a long term health advocate I share a variety of solutions, strategies, suggestions and systems to promote vibrant energy, health and vitality. Technology Traps ,Tricks & Trips
Manufacturing and technology companies are driven by profits and Return On Investment (ROI) and do not put ergonomics or our health first. They promote high technology products regardless of damaging influences, danger factors and design flaws rather than offering the best ergonomic, healthy, natural and safe options. Many people are discovering that improper use and over use can result in harmful consequences. While many companies and people think all products are totally beneficial, necessary and safe, we should do our homework and research optimal, proper and safe use before hand. It is well documented that most people do not read the owners manual before operating appliances, cars, cell phones, computers, games, recreation, sports equipment and toys. Every day people are injuring themselves as a result and putting themselves at risk. In addition to this they are also developing bad habits while using these technology trinkets and toys. We must realize if we do not operated items ergonomically, properly and safely it can result in damage to our bodies, bones and brains. Clear evidence indicates people are taking operating procedures and safety for granted. Remember there is always time to talk and text later when and where it is safer.
As mentioned in previous blog posts most people are oblivious and unaware of optimal alignment awareness, proper posture, safety principles and structural integrity strategies. It is therefore essential to seek coaching, guidance and training in optimal alignment, functional movement and peak performance training. Years of research for better health, nutrition and wellness practices and protocols has helped me to gain great ideas, insights and inspiration for preventing and protecting against awkward alignment and poor posture. My research is driven to identified great resources and role models to help improve our health and lifestyle.
Solution: Teach, Think & Train
We must teach, think and train our body and brain for peak performance and safety. We know we must avoid habits and habitats that contribute to harming our health. Teach your children and self good habits like sitting and standing erect and tall. Avoid slouching. Give your eyes a break frequently. Think about the time engaged in technology and find ways to be more efficient and effective so less time is required. Delete the time traps. Train yourself to set boundaries, controls and priorities so the technology does not control you and your quality of life.
Holding and talking on a cell phone is dangerous and distracting while driving. Texting and driving is dangerous and dumb for you and others around you. Looking at GPS systems while driving can also be dangerous. Even texting and walking has been an invitation for accidents as people have been hit by bikes, cars, motorcycles and trucks while texting.
Constantly bending the head forward and looking at computers, games and phones can lead to back, eye, neck and shoulder strain and stress. People are developing carpel tunnel, rounded shoulders and hunched backs.
Holding a cell phone or cordless phone to your ear with your hand or shoulder is bad for the brain due to Electro-Magnetic Frequencies (EMF).
Another key step to protecting yourself long term is to stop seeing, sitting, slouching and standing with poor posture. That means avoiding the temptation to let the body be limp and loose. Use an ergonomic chair, exercise ball, kneel chair or stand up desk. Keep your head erect and spin straight with the shoulder blades back and engaged.
One of the best things we can do is to sit erect and stand tall with our body evenly distributed on our feet or hips. Shift the body and feet to activate blood flow and stimulate the lymph system.
Too much blue light exposure late in the evening disturbs our circadian rhythm and quality and quantity of sleep. Turn the devices off or at least use blue blocker sun glasses. Earthing and grounding is also helpful to unplug from technology traps and tricks.
There are many steps we can take to eliminate the unnecessary risks and tasks associated with being addicted to technology devices. Learn to unplug from technology more and plug into Mother Nature more often.
Join a community, network or social group to exchange ideas and information with other like minded people. Begin discussing this topic with family and friends. Learn to connect directly with a more health conscious community and less with social media sites that isolate you from real connections and reality. Join together with other like minded individuals to collaborate, communicate and cooperate as you share what you learn.
