Body and Brain Benefits of Yoga
Our brain often becomes very agitated and distracted from the everyday strain and stress factors that wear us down. This can lead to unhealthy behaviors that cause our body to become sad, sick, stressed and tired. Yoga can help maintain both our body and brain at the same time with easy to do yoga poses and postures. When people become inactive from too much sitting their bones, joints, ligaments, muscles at tendons can atrophy and begin slowly wasting away. Soon aches and pains become common and then comes the almost inevitable weight gain from accumulating fat.
Without a daily exercise routine most people will begin to mentally and physically decline from a loss of bone density, muscle mass and physical fitness. This decline combined with drinking unhealthy beverages and eating unhealthy foods reduces our quality of life and shortens our quantity of life.
Many people say they are too busy and too tired to exercise. That is why yoga is the perfect solution. Yoga does not require any additional time and actually helps you feel calm yet energized. You may be asking how can that be true. Yoga can be done in a chair or while talking on the phone. It can be done while watching TV or listening to CD’s with audio books, education, music, relationship or self growth information. Of course we may become so hooked on yoga we give up the Cable or TV shows to benefit more from our yoga practice for exercise and fitness.
For those that have compelling values, vision and rules for energizing exercise they find time. For those that have higher demands and priorities like: avoiding exercise, chatting on the phone, consuming alcohol, eating fake, fast and junk foods, drinking sodas, gossiping, long commutes sitting, overeating, reading fiction and romance, sitting for hours, watching TV.
A great way to learn yoga is to join a yoga class at a church, college, community center, fitness center, health club, school, senior’s center, temple, YMCA or yoga center.
